Support Your Confident Reader — In Just 10 Minutes a Day

Based on your quiz results, your child may not need intensive help right now — but every strong reader benefits from structure, routine, and intentional practice. This 10-minute daily plan is designed to reinforce decoding, fluency, and reading confidence — especially for children ages 6–9.

🕒 10-Minute Daily Reading Routine

1. Warm-Up Words (2 minutes)

Choose 3–5 short, decodable words (e.g., frog, dish, shell). Say each sound aloud, blend them, and have your child repeat. Focus on short vowels or consonant blends.

2. Finger-Tracking Practice (3 minutes)

Read one paragraph from a familiar book. Ask your child to point under each word as they read. If they skip or guess a word, pause gently and guide them to sound it out.

3. Fluency Reread (3 minutes)

Choose one sentence or paragraph from yesterday’s reading and reread it together. Ask, “Can we read this more smoothly today?” Time them once or twice to make it fun.

4. Celebrate & Reflect (2 minutes)

End with encouragement: “What did you notice about your reading today?” Praise effort, not just perfection. Example: “You kept trying even when the word was tricky!”

📌 Weekly Tip

Use sticky notes to mark tough words your child skips. Review them together 1–2 times a week until they can read them smoothly.
